Why India Legacy Exists
I started India Legacy because I could never find the whole of India in one place. When I was in school, and later when I would try to help my younger cousins and friends with their history projects, we would run between four or five different websites just to get the basic facts about a monument, a freedom fighter, or a festival. The information was scattered, often in very technical language, and rarely written for someone who was learning the topic for the first time.
India Legacy is my attempt to fix that. It is a heritage blog written in simple, clear English for anyone who wants to understand India, its history, its monuments, its festivals, and the people who shaped it. My main readers are students, particularly those studying Indian history in school and college, and their families and teachers who want a reliable place to send them.
What I Write About
The site covers five broad areas:
- Indian History, from the ancient civilisations of the Indus Valley to the freedom struggle and modern India
- Monuments and Heritage Sites, from Amer Fort to the Konark Sun Temple, with visitor guides that go beyond the standard tourist information
- Festivals and Culture, covering the great celebrations of India in all their regional variety
- Indian Food, the food cultures of the north, south, east, and west
- Freedom Fighters and Historical Figures, from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to Bhagat Singh
Every article on India Legacy is written from the point of view of a curious learner, not an academic. My aim is that a student in class 8 or class 12 should be able to read any article on this site and come away understanding the topic, being able to answer exam questions on it, and being interested enough to want to read more.
My Background and Approach
I am not a professional historian. I am a heritage researcher and writer who has spent years reading, travelling, and asking questions about India. Every article I write is researched from multiple sources. I check facts against government archives, academic books, museum catalogues, and reliable secondary sources like Sahapedia, the Archaeological Survey of India, and the Ministry of Culture.
Where a topic is contested by historians, I try to present the main views honestly rather than pick a side. Where a legend and the historical record disagree, I mention both. My goal is to give students the same clarity a good teacher would give in class, not to add to the noise of the internet.
How This Site Is Written
Every article on India Legacy follows the same principles:
- Clean, simple English that a school student can read
- Real research from credible sources, cited at the bottom of each article
- A frequently asked questions section that covers the questions students actually search for
- A clear structure, so readers can find what they need without hunting
I do not use AI to write my content, and I do not copy from other websites. Every article is written by me, edited by me, and updated by me when new information becomes available.

I take accuracy seriously. If you find an error in any article on this site, please write to me at gauravthapa1709@gmail.com. I will investigate and correct any mistake as quickly as possible. Suggestions for new topics are equally welcome, particularly from teachers and students who would like more articles on subjects they are studying.
